Default HELP !!!! KV6 inlet manifold

Is there a how to on removing KV6 inlet manifold (with photos)?.
My temperature sensor has stopped working and on inspection a mouse has been in the V nesting and chomping my wires, I need to take off the inlet manifold and clean out the nest debris then repair wires from sensor !!.

Cheers Keith

There is one, which you've no doubt found. Unfortunately, many (most?) of the older HowTos have been corrupted by the Photobucket virus (or similar) and lack their images. Many (most?) have not been fixed (and I suspect, may never be).

Hi mate

Yes I found the photoless how to, just need a clear process to follow and remove manifold.

Signs of nest in V and wires chewed.

A link to the how to you're trying to view? Might be able to assist.

Wow ! That’s some mouses’ nest, I had one on my Wedgewood 75 a few years back but it just chewed the insulation off the top engine cover.

Had a heck of a job removing it all using the air line then eventually the hose to flush the debris away. My wiring was only slightly chewed with no bare wires.

As regards removing the manifold I would advise you to take plenty of photos on the way so you don’t get stuck on re assembly, also this would be a good time to fit that new thermostat etc.

Yes plenty of photos is a good idea.
Thermostat was done when PhilT4 replaced cambelts etc.

Remove the acoustic cover, the battery and box and all the breather hoses (remembering to label them for re-assembly).

Disconnect the throttle cable. Disconnect the loom holder from the rear of the upper inlet chamber. Remove the upper chamber with throttle body attached (just wriggle it under the solid fuel line).

Disconnect the fuel line at the join to the right of the engine. Remove front injection rail (I disconnect the rail at the joint on the left and lift it off, replacing the O-ring on reassembly, others pivot the rail to the left around that joint to get it out of the way).

Remove front manifold.

Don't forget to get rid of all the old bits of the outgoing gasket. Also the far right inner manifold bolt can sometimes be a bit of a pig to fully tighten when reassembling but stick with it or you'll have a leak.
