Just arranged to get our CLS booked for service and it’s first MOT with my local MB independent.
Fortunately for me they have an employee living in my village who will collect and deliver my car on Friday.
They have however stated they will not be valeting the car as usual and keys ( by arrangement) to be left in the car or on the doorstep. They will wipe the steering wheel and seat before using the car and again when leaving it.
Account will be paid over the phone by card.

I can’t ask for anything better than this under the current situation so I will remain legal to drive to the supermarket if required for fresh supplies. So far our local Spar has sufficed with our day to day needs.

Please take the advice given and stay indoors.
Best wishes to all.

Default MOT Booked

I have just booked my tourer in for 30th March month before it due, hopefully it will pass, my MOT station says they will stay open unless forced to close.

Until any edict from the Government, this is the answer from DVSA

"Thank you for your email enquiry dated 20 March 2020, concerning an MOT.

I appreciate this is a difficult time for the whole country, at this moment in time there is no exemption or extension from MOT testing, or no contingency plan in place. If your vehicle MOT expires whilst you are self-isolating, then you are only able to drive the vehicle directly to/from a pre-booked MOT test after midnight on the date of expiry of the current certificate. After that time the vehicle must not be kept on a public road until it is re-tested and taxed etc.

If your local MOT garage is unable to accommodate you, you may need to look for one further afield.

Nothing has been released as to what will happen going forward, so for now it remains business as usual. The gov.uk website will be updated with all information as and when decisions have been made.

Find the latest COVID19 government guidelines on the GOV.UK website here.

I am sorry we cannot provide you with a more robust response at this present time."

If your car was unroadworthy then you will be done for it, no matter the status of the MOT.

I'll find the post.

So Boris has spoken, we can go out except for specific purposes & it seems getting an MOT isn't one of them. Still we are not allowed to use our cars either I guess

So how do you stay legal if you don’t have off road parking?

Mine is due tomorrow and I dropped it off before Boris's speech tonight, so will be getting it back home tomorrow hopefully with a pass

I know we should all adhere to government advice and I will be when I get my car back and am lucky enough to be able to work from home but as I understand it enforcement cannot be carried through until it passes through parliament so a few more days yet before total lockdown
