Yikes, this is the first I've heard of the situation. I believe, though, that like the previous fuel problem it is distribution issues rather than shortage. Just shows we are still on a knife edge re JIT.

I'm scheduled for a fill-up to-day or to-morrow!

They'll still expect their lights and heating to work when they get back home after sitting down outside a fuel distribution center. I bet they still expect their type of fuel to be available or public transport to run without issues.

Oh er Missus! Campaign to refuse parking permits for diesel cars

"Campaigners and councillors attended the launch of a new campaign celebrating the ‘End of Diesel’, with six billboards across London calling on councillors to ensure their boroughs are diesel free by 2030 or sooner."

"Oliver Lord, UK Head of the Clean Cities Campaign, added: ‘The end of the road for diesel cars is truly in sight. But we will get there much quicker, and save thousands more lives if we give these polluting vehicles a final push into the scrapyard. Councils have the chance to change behaviour. We want all parties to commit to ending car parking permits for new diesel cars by next year and commit to going totally diesel free by 2030. This would be another important milestone on the journey to cleaner air, tackling the climate crisis and ending our reliance on Russian oil.’" https://airqualitynews.com/2022/03/31/c ... phase-out/
I'd like to say that you couldn't make it up - but apparently one can.

No political party takes into account the motorists vote as it has never really becomes a major break/win/loose situation. Until the motorists collectively use their votes en block to a party that will look after their interests (and this would probably mean creating a new one) the burden will just keep on increasing.

Good on yer Gordon!

The government have just unveiled it's new strategy for the Hoi Polloi & it's spending £7billion on public transport outside of London to get people out of private cars & onto buses. https://www.edie.net/bus-back-better...-to-use-buses/

GMTE up here have recently announced no bus journey will cost more than £2 for adults & £1 for children no matter how many times you change buses to get to your destination. Cheap as chips. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...mpaign=KARANGA

Not down here in my neck of woods. Villages that had a PS in the past have had it withdrawn over the last decade. Even those that still have something might only run on market days or finish at 18:00 hrs. Nothing like flexibility and thus one is virtually 'forced' to use a vehicle.

Looks like the fuel protesters will be causing more disruption through this week & the Easter weekend. https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/fle...tests-continue

Oliver Lord sounds as though he smokes something rather fruity. I wonder what his organisation plans to do with every delivery car, van, lorry and double lorry and bus filling our roads every day of the year. Especially those incredible flower lorries from Holland etc. that fill 10 parking places. Every single one run on diesel. There is more than a bit of a paradox in those diesel lorries delivering such sweet smelling delights.

Also, can you imagine the fuss Amazon delivery drivers et al will make? All those vehicles suddenly worthless? That clanking sound? That'll be the bottom falling out of every business in the land.

Travelled over to Wolves and back yesterday and today. Our regular stop on the A14 had no fuel at all, one or two places we passed had queues, at least one backing onto the A14.

The PS in Wolves all seemed OK, so I took the opportunity to fill up for the return. See some of the disrupters are being nicked now. When the younger ones realise a criminal record can ruin any potential future career perhaps this will stop?

Or not
