Default IPK screens

With the imminent decline of replacement ipk screens due to lack of controller chips, I'm thinking there must be an alternative way, such as an oled screen, fpga chip programmed to mimic the original controller.

Been looking into the same thing by creating a custom lcd screen.

Frankly this is kinda stuff the club needs to be jumping on, maybe we collectively should start a go fund me for it for development.

There are OLED screen kits for handheld games, perhaps one of these could be adapted?

If I could find details on the 48(? Or maybe 50) Pin interface to the screens, it should be fairly easy for me to come up with something that would drive a screen.
I have been looking for this detail on and off for a few years.

Programming a translation chip would be fairly straight forward once I know the interface details.

Biggest issue would then possibly be finding a cheap source of chips with sufficient available legs - FPGA boards with sufficient pins aren't super cheap, and the cheaper boards don't have enough pins (I suspect).
