Methinks Marie Antoinette was the cakey person.

Not sure the government has a way forward to deal with this developing situation.

That's growth, but only growth of debt (which is only achieved by an increase in borrowing). Which increases the inability to repay longer term debt by increasing interest rates. Which increases the inability to repay earlier primary debt. It also makes for very happy bankers. I nearly misspelled that. Then, ultimately, given the huge numbers who borrow, sow the seeds of the eventual crash. Q.E.D.

To be fair no government has an answer the population would accept, yet our biased media and the vociferous political opposition have folks believing differently.

The rate of inflation, however calculated is NOT news. It is a statistical fact of which we are all only too painfully aware. Much is caused by global matters over which all Governments have little or no control, so these are the news - not the headline rate. Media, please shut up - the cost of living is different for every individual depending on needs and lifestyle.

Maninder,"one of us Indians in disguise" blimey I have had enough problems with the British Class system let alone getting involved in the Indian caste system. Maybe on reflection, possibly "Strickland going fantee" could be? maybe not. Chris.S.
