Air recirculation defaulting to ON
Anyone know the criteria which the car applies to setting the air recirculation on or off when starting, and is it alterable with TOAF? Thanks.
Dougie.

It's to do with the outside temperature v interior I think?
Just turn it off when you get in 😎 Sent from my SM-A326B using Tapatalk Last edited by suzublu; 31st May 2022 at 09:20.. |

The green light on the switch isn't bright enough on a bright day to confirm whether it's on or not, so I have to faff about every time I start the car! That's what's driving me nuts. Dougie.

Thanks for that. So if I press & hold for 2 seconds, will it turn the auto-recirc process off for ever or just during that ignition cycle?
Dougie.

I understand the handbook's wording to mean that if you press and hold for 2 seconds it will override the automatic return to fresh air after 4 minutes recirculation, in other words exactly the opposite of what you are trying to achieve. But the best way is to try it and see what happens. In response to your original question about the criteria governing automatic recirculation, RAVE doesn't reveal the programming decisions behind this but I think that suzublu is on the right lines since mine always triggers when the interior is considerably hotter than the exterior. This, of course, is ridiculous because in those conditions it is preferable initially to draw in less hot air from outside the car until cooling is felt and only then should recirculation be selected! As an alternative to the LED in the button Dougie, there's a symbol in the LCD display which indicates whether fresh air or recirculation is selected. Is that easier to see? Simon

Thanks for that - hope you're well. I've not in fact monitored after starting the car, presuming perhaps wrongly that it would remain on recirculation, so I will do that. Quote:

Automatic recirculation is a nuisance in the summer and activation of the HRW when it's not needed is a nuisance in the winter. I've also found that I need to change the temperature selection depending upon many other factors so even that needs an element of manual control! Simon
