I'd suggest Mick that you re-seat the electrical connector on the actuator which you'll find inside the boot lid. That's what worked when I had the machine gunning sound that Mike Noc mentioned.

I can assure you that Mike Noc is correct and a simple adjustment of the rubber stops will cure the problem, I have had this fault myself many times on these cars

Hello Dave,

I've just edited my last post because confusion has reigned due to two people asking similar questions in the same thread.

Mick hasn't said whether his boot lock operates with the key, that was Ray. My reply was to Mick. Mike Noc's suggestion is dependent upon the machine gunning sound but Mick hasn't reported that yet. His description is a clicking.

I am resisting jumping in at the deep end until I have more information from Mick. As you can see from my post which you've quoted, it is not always the rubbers that cause the machine gunning sound.

I hope this clarifies the situation.
