Before the RAC/AA arrive, get a quote for a new battery from online dealer, and save the quote. When the RAC/AA tells you the price of the battery, don’t collapse, tell him you have got a price and who from. He will want to see it. Show him and you will get the battery at that price. Friend of mine did that in front of me when his battery went kaput.

If only .. . I did tell the friendly RAC chappie that I could get one for £90 . . . BUT this was 12 miles away . . . was probably an unbranded battery with more limited g'tee. This Varta will I have no doubt last me many years, so the bird in the hand etc etc.
