If it's not too vulgar, I distinctly remember as a boy delivering periodicals on my paper round.

Seriously though, I would not have thought that there would be any discrimination of any kind at that place that would warrant such provision. Somewhat shocked.

I have over the years supported a number of period poverty campaigns and have been heartened by the number of employers who are now providing free sanitary products for women. Sadly the cost of these products, especially in the current cost of living crisis means that a growing number of women of all ages are struggling to pay for them. My local authority area has now started providing pads etc in schools.

I hope that this initiative also looks at increased support for women going through menopause. Thankfully my wife has been well supported by her employer but sadly many adopt the attitude of ' just get on with it'.

I really hope that this is not just another PR exercise by the government

I can understand providing in schools but a place of work, got me on that one.

We all need to use toilet paper and workplaces provide it. Women need to use pads etc, some employers now provide it. I have heard first hand from women the choice they sometimes have to make over buying food for their kids or pads etc. Some have resorted to using newspaper as they cannot always afford proper sanitary products. Why should an employer do so? It helps to reduce women having to stay at home during their time of the month.
I know it's unbelievable for one of the richest countries in the world but it happens.

Foodbanks now serve a huge demand for sanitary producs alongside basic food essentials.

I agree, as one of the richest nations in the world, we should consider this a shameful state of affairs.

not to mention understanding and consideration regarding the mental and physical effect/discomfort it has on some women.
