Well yesterday now because i have posted late but fitted tow doors to local Nano meet owners car, boy what a job that is on your own in the hot sweltering sun.

Also had to strip down both doors, as both did not have any trimming left on them, no door cards and one the front the wiring loom and lock did not work.

Then to make matters worse both needed the door handles changing over, due to the replacement doors handle were pitted.

That would be nasty! I've done one door on my own and it was a pig. If it's any consolation (it is to me....), your fan is doing sterling work with the a/c. It'll be a lifesaver these next few days.

Dougie.

Hi Dougie.
Hope you are well, remember when driving on motorways or at good speed anywhere you can switch to Econ and give those brushes a rest as the A/C will be just as cold with the ram effect from the car

I am now off out to investigate a knocking on the tourer from the front, changed the drop links four days ago so it wont be those or it should not be. cheers Arctic.

You mentioned that at the meet. I thought that switching to Econ disengaged the compressor thus stopping the pressurised gas from being converted to liquid in the condenser (and therefore would not be cool)?

Yeah you won't have AC in econ mode as the compressor will be disengaged.

It is all according to how warm it is outside when you disengage the compressor. I knock mine off when travelling at above 40 mph, and leave it on econ until it gets warm again. Then put it back on auto. Saves a few mpg . My mate leaves his on all the time. Take your pick.

Hi Dave.
I am in your school of thinking also, i have known some owners have the A/C even in winter and also known owners have the A/C in hot weather and also have the windows and sunroof open?

If the compressor is disengaged the gas won’t be pumped around, you might get cold air for another minute or so while the cold gas is still there, but it won’t last long. Air con doesn’t really make much of a consumption difference on the V6 or Diesel engines, a few percent more load won’t make a huge difference, you would notice it more on a 1.8.

A/C in winter still works well, as it is perfect for demisting and keeping the cabin at a comfortable, non-stuffy temperature.

The 75 isn't exactly the most economical of cars (comparatively) anyway, so the 1mpg difference and potential bill of an air con system repair versus being comfortable is a no brainer for me.
