It is also soul destroying living in what feels like a permanent summer.

Despite loving Suffolk we are, sadly, going to have to move to a cooler area of the country.

The North West sounds very tempting.

Good morning Gary, welcome

What about Edinburgh? Brrrrr comes to mind. We nearly bought a flat there as my wife went to Edinburgh Uni and health back up looked good, a nice social scene. We changed our minds because of the weather.

Or Geordie land?

I am sorry to see you are having a bad time with the heat.

My wife is part Scottish and we have considered a move there, Ayrshire in particular. Sadly they have an unusual house sale/purchase system which, coupled with the logistics of getting there, make it just a dream sadly. We looked at Northumberland late last year but again the logistics of getting there. Plus for both we'd be further away from family and they wouldn't be happy. The Shropshire/Welsh border is a serious consideration, so too Lincoln, but we'll see.

Thank you for your concern, we'll be ok. (Blue puffer twice already today).

Please define trek, 20-30 miles? The cardiologist has told me to do no more than 1-2 miles every day on the flat. An app on the phone keeps a record. One day I walked up 11 floors and regretted it, what was I thinking.
Ah, my trek is restricted by the coastline, ho ho! 5.5 miles.
I have just been down at Fairford, RIAT for six days, it was warm, so this morning was bliss.

Default OK for the retired!

For the last two years we have really missed our trips to Corfu. This lot has just reminded me why we miss it. When the weather is this hot, and you are retired, you can just pretend that you are on holiday! OK, I'm missing the pool and the bar but as it is still Covid time, would I want to be swimming in a massive petri dish or using plates, knives, forks and spoons used washed up by folks on minimum wage and used by Covid carrying "couldn't care lessers"!

Don't get me started on room and plane cleaning schedules!

I'll be stay at home grandad with my fridge full of Ouzo, Metaxa and home made Spanakopita.

Kalispera.

Don't believe all you see in the media. We CAN cope. Just use some brains!

You've nailed the problem right there, I think common sense went out when smartphones came in.

Its a very oppressive 28° here, no air moving and a lot of cloud cover. so no direct sun.

The temp in our conservatory now 47.3C I'll be more than glad to see the back of this inferno. I've been taking out panes of glass in the greenhouses to stop my tomato plants from incinerating.

https://www.whtimes.co.uk/news/crime...in-car-9152054

Yesterday a concerned member of the public called police to the hotel where we are staying. A Rottweiler was seen inside a car in the hotel car park with all of the windows and doors closed. When the police rescued the dog it’s temp was 40C, they poured water over it and placed the dog in their car with the AC on before taking the dog to the Royal College of Vets where it remains receiving treatment. The owner of the dog was arrested, what was he thinking arrgh!
