Default Facelift steering lock discrepancy N/S-O/S

So far I've been content with my 75 ownership, noticed a few (dozen) build quality issues which I expected, but something unexpected is an uneven steering lock.

Not sure if there is an issue with mine specifically or if this was "normal", but the wheel turns about 60 degrees further to the right than it does to the left. The wheel does sit slightly canted to the left when straight, so could it be that someone did a total bodge of the alignment and caused it to be uneven? I'm not even sure that's possible but it seems the only explanation.

I haven't been able to tell yet if it does have a harder lock to the right than the left, but the wheel definitely turns more in that direction.

Something is amiss there, I suspect the tracking has been adjusted unevenly.

That was my thinking, but wanted to check it wasn't a 75 "quirk" first!

The tyres are down to about 4-5mm so given it doesn't pull and they are wearing evenly I'll wait until they are a bit more worn then get it done properly when I get new tyres fitted. The squint steering wheel has to be sorted anyway as I simply can't stand it and don't know why so many garages think that is an acceptable way to return a car to a customer.

Whenever I've had alignment done it has been aligned straight, and if it weren't I'd be going back and asking them to re-do it, but it seems many don't.

Just do lock to lock, with someone telling you when the wheels are central. Either someone's had the steering wheel off and it's off, or your tracking is absolutely shagged lol.

Hi Jamie,

As you've got quite a bit of tread remaining I would take the car for a 4 wheel alignment right away!

Even though the steering wheel is set to its central position prior to adjustment, unless its firmly held there it's so easy for it to move slightly as the tie rod nuts are undone, particularly if the thread is rusty.
