Yesterday’s visit to the hospital in central London for the treadmill test gave us a boost The heart rate target was 220 and I pushed my score to 99%. As soon as that was achieved, the treadmill was stopped. The heart was scanned before, during and after the run. The cardiologist said my efforts were impressive and he reckoned I could have gone on for 2 more minutes. I have to say, it was hard work as they made me push the heart and lungs to the limit. Encouragingly he said I was fit but he will analyse the results more closely to see if there is anything or if the heart is strong enough for the op next month.

In the meantime I will continue to keep active and build myself up. We were happy with our visit which boosted the self confidence.

Last night Ros and I went to see Simply Red at Colchester Park.

Rather odd considering we went to their final concert at the O2 a few years back
Obviously Mick needed a bit more money

Simply Red Colchester Park by Jeff Cranwell, on Flickr

Sad to report but it was probably the worst concert we have attended.
Not because of Simply Red, just the behaviour of those there.
Lots of drunken behaviour and people shouting over the top of the music.

It seemed that people were more interested in getting wasted than listening to the music.
At one point Mick Hucknell stopped to address some girls fighting towards the front of the audience. Thankfully they were ejected from the venue!

Very disappointed in the behaviour witnessed at a local venue to us. I don't think we will bother going to future events held at Colchester Castle Park

Only went out for half an hour when we were in Cornwall, I wanted to ensure all was well with the boat before going any further, going to give her a good test today, have everything on board in case things don't go to plan, flares, radio, life jackets, oars etc.

I even got the nav light working!

I went to see The Beatles way back in the sixties and all I could hear was the occasional drumbeats and Paul's bass because there were so many screaming girls. It put me off large live music shows for life. Apart from big names at the Yorkshire clubs, my live events were very limited - Orbison, Everlys, Bassey. Ahhhh! Them were the days!
