New Thermostat
Have a leaky seal on my thermostat and whilst reading about it I came across some threads saying the original thermostats had an issue and so it was worth replacing? An "early opening problem", is there a way to diagnose this as I cant seem to find anything in regards to that and dont want to replace it if not needed

Does your temperature gauge rise to the 9 o'clock position a few miles into a journey? I believe, when they fail, they stay open all the time and the engine never warms up.
At least, that's what happened to mine...

Yes, the engine running temperature will be too low. A failed stat will mean temperatures well below the target 90C area. Typically, it's shown by the gauge needle sitting below 9 o'clock all the time. If you activate the trip screen diagnostic mode, you can see what the temperature actually is.

They are 25 .00 at dmgs at the moment change it as the seal is part of the thermostat housing.
It's a bit of a job to do also |

If you are going to all the trouble of removing the thermostat housing in order to replace the leaking seal it would be wise the change the thermostat at the same time. The part is not expensive but the work is, unless you are going to do it yourself.
