Fbh timing mod query
On the how to it says to use 5amp fuses, but the chap used 14amp wire
Surely with a 5amp fuse, 8amp rated wire is fine? Or is there some wiring I've misunderstood from the how to? Tia

Very often the choice of wire is down to what was readily available in the parts box so wouldnt read too much in to that. The timer more than likely is just sending a signal to pin 1 or pin 3 on the fbh to turn it on. Never measured how much current flows in that signal line but would be milliamps at best. Some timers also control power to the cabin fans delaying them from starting up for a while until the water warms up. Fans draw a lot more current, 10 amps or more the faster they go, so depends on what the timer is for, and where in the circuit the fuse had been put. |
