Default Scottish Junior Cup Final

Well my old hometown made it to yet another final of the Scottish junior cup, which was today at rugby park in Kilmarnock.
Anyhow after 5 mins they were 1-0 down before equalising later in the first half.
At the end of 90 Mins they were 2-1 down and looked like the cup was heading to hurlford.
With 3 mins added on they managed to equalise & possibly take it to extra time and then the unthinkable scoring again to win 3-2.

This win makes it the 12 Scottish junior cup they have won which is a record for any junior team.

So well done Talbot.

Ah Auchinleck

Remember doing a two page middle page report on the dog track there for the national Greyhound Star paper back in the eighties. The Donis family ran it at the time very nice people.

My youngest son has followed The Talbot since he was a lad, along with a less successful team in Glasgow, better not say anymore.

He also used to accompany me when I supplied the motor trade with coachl8nes etc so he knew the roads.

One Saturday along with his Papa going by bus to Barrhead to watch the Talbot, he would be about 8 years old at the time he said to his Papa the driver should have turned off here. His Papa said don’t worry the drive will know where he is going.

After missing another two turns which my son had noted and by this time the driver was going through Giffnock, some of the others on the bus started shouting to the driver asking where the **# are you going.
By this time they were saying the boy was right so after turn around the driver eventually reached Barrhead.

Yes it’s quite an achievement the team have made over the years.

Now a derelict mess closed in 2003 & sold in 2006 for redevelopment (houses iirc) but nothings ever happened to it.

Mr & Mrs Donis still live locally.

Reading this at post 1, I was a bit confused then realised that was last year.

Yes 2.0 was a good result. I was in the company of one of their players last week but that’s a secret.
