Default Tesla powered 1950 MK V Jaguar.

Love it or hate it I can see this sort of thing happening to more & more of these rare old British classics or any other marque for that matter in the near future.

I'm in two minds about these kind of projects though! I would love to see it restored to it's original spec but then again I'd like to see it used everyday out on the roads with a modern drive train and not shoved in some museum.

Whichever way I'm going to follow this project of a lovely old Jag

Cool

I must admit I have thought about turning the Banana over to electric. Would certainly cure her maladies.

It's an interesting idea. A shame it's being done by such an ignorant halfwit.

I'd love to do the same to my Morris Eight but in reality conversions are expensive - far more so than the result would be worth.
I guess the good news is that, as its a frail little thing by modern standards, in a few years time the bits from a wrecked Zoe or similar should be reasonably affordable and more than adequate for daily use.

I can't see why people are wanting to ruin a classic car which just seems to be another ' latest fad' . Just buy a Nissan Leaf with all it's latest toys as standard. To me the charm of a classic is ' it's voice ' from the brum sound from it's little exhaust and the whine from it's gearbox. It should be a time machine with all it's period charm.

I plan on running a diesel on veg oil and white spirit after the fuel disappears from general sale.

Electric cars, yes zero emission at point of use, but ultimately far less environmentally sound than your average ICE car.

I'm with Pete on this, classic cars become kit car specials when fitted with electric power trains.

All he's done is spend a fortune on making a classic car completley worthless.

What on earth is wrong with the car as it was? At a stroke, all of its character, history, delight, and yes - presence - static or moving, is gone. Forget the value/return/usage, a lovely car destroyed in the name of fashionable fable. All in the name of, er, progress? Heresy.

There are two reasons why I love classics - their looks (not euroboxes), and the noise they make (every one has a unique note). I cite my Triumph 2500TC and my Rover V8S SDi as great examples! I shall not be joining the electric revolution, and at my age I should not have to.
