Default Batteries

After 8 months of not moving, my 2.5 Auto will need a new battery.
Does anyone know anything about the Bosch S5008 Type 096? Thanks.

Thumbs up for this 5 year guaranteed battery. I bought a couple from The Battery Guys on-line. Price for 2 delivered was c£170.00 which I rate good value. This was about 8 months ago - no problems so far.

It's about the best battery one can buy in the 096 size. Same as the Varta E44.

Another very good alternative is an Exide EA722 which can sometimes be a little cheaper.

I have the Varta on my ZT, identical to the Bosch in every way, in fact they are made in the same factory in Germany. I paid 110 quid last summer, the Bosch was 115, hardly any difference.
Good battery so far.

Hi Ray

I have Exide Premium on all three of my Rovers and found them to be very reliable with strong cranking power. Also come with a 5 year guarantee.
(note the one in the link is for a 1.8 petrol)

Recommend you check with Tayna Batteries, excellent prices and service from my own experience. All Brands available.

Costco only sell Bosch batteries and have supplied all of mine for a good few years. Last couple were just a bit cheaper than Tayna, but Costco are local for me and it always depends what discounts at the time, etc.

Don't forget, that whatever battery you buy, if the car is not used for prolonged periods give it an overnight charge with a smart charger occasionally.

They do like to be fully charged all the time for a long life.
