Bought a Range Rover. Delighted. Pics too.

I started looking for one in 2016 but a spell with cancer delayed any purchase.
Then with a change of job in 2019 and then covid I passed on many that I saw online.
This one ticked all the boxes although at first I wanted a petrol V8 with LPG but settled on a diesel.
Drove it 203 miles home on Tuesday at a steady 65mph and doing a brim to brim test achieved 26.6mpg.
Previous owners spent a lot of money on it so I'm hoping I will get the benefit.....
It's a 1997 2.5 DSE.

Out here in Kenya, they are popular and very capable for driving off on and off road. My brother in law has a Range Rover SDV8 Vogue in green and last year he added a petrol Land cruiser V8 in white to his collection of 4x4’s before the fuel crisis kicked in. Both V8’s give him a lot pleasure and the challenge of how to drive them economically, contributes to the buzz.

Yours is pleasing to the eye, I really do like the colour.

I note the OP drives a Range Rover 2.5 Diesel SE and I also see from your avatar you drive a diesel. If you are that worried about what comes out of the exhaust pipes, what is your solution?

I drive a eu6 diesel its £20 ved. My next car will be electric, i need to first install solar panels on my garage roof with battery storage.

So your solution is to go electric car? and solar power for your house, fair enough.

The solar technology is improving with batteries lasting longer and becoming more reliable, so I wish you the very best in finding what you are seeking.

I too considered an EV as my next daily driver. The Range Rover is a weekend vehicle.
For several reasons an EV is not practical for me. Technology on them is improving rapidly so I'm guessing I should wait for better versions to come to market.
New, they are an eye-watering price.
Second hand they are still expensive but have 90k miles on the clock.
The list of negatives is still too long.

I've started to make some simple changes.
New wipers front and rear.
Replaced the H4 and H1 light bulbs up front. It had cheap Chinese ones fitted which were not much better than candles.
Number plate bulbs were giving a bulb failure on the dash. Again, nasty LED bulbs fitted. Changed them and the warning has gone.
Service and MOT booked for 24th June. MOT is actually due mid July.

I think its going to be a hobby rather than a daily driver.
Land Rover forums are nowhere near as good as this one and mainly consist of threads relating to the next generation Range Rover the L322. Their faults are legendary.
I will keep searching for a better source of information on the forums.
