Air conditioning Compressor.

fan cutting in and out when A/C is on is a sign of resistor failure

regardless of the current resistor ( original one was silver, replacement ones are gold) you should replace with a good quality gold one.

My V6 is the same. With aircon on, the fan cycles on and off, blades almost stop completely then start up again. The aircon works and the car doesn't overheat, in my ignorance, I thought this was normal but clearly it isn't.
Mine has a gold resistor but I guess that the low speed operation has still failed. It was a complete second hand fan unit 18 months ago as nothing worked before that. When fitted, I am pretty sure all speeds (three I think) worked OK. I've just ordered a new resistor kit from Jules in Colwyn Bay for £22. |
