This is an excellent "How to" but it is missing a bit of vital infomation!!

The clip on the top right corner should be a Red Fir Tree type and Not a standard clip.

This is why the door cards are often loose as these always break and then get replaced with the standard type which do not hold!!

Part Number ECY000380 is what you need. Now changed to EKM100270 and now white not Red. £2.20 each while not cheap it is only one per door required!!

These are the types you want.

The red versions are recommended because they're less brittle than the OEM white type. Worth looking out for on eBay because the OEM ones from Rimmer/Xpart are a really silly price. Look out for the reds under their BMW usage.

They are standard clips not Fir Tree!!

The one clip on the top by the lock pin must be a Fir Tree type and not a standard type. Fir Tree as in it looks like a Fir Tree!! A standard clip will hold for a while and then pop out.

This is what you need all of £2.20 each and only one for each door.

Must agree with you on this one!!
The reason most door cards are loose at the top is because at sometime in their life they've been removed and the Top Fir tree clip has not been renewed.

The top metal clips can also be re-tensioned (upwards) to further secure the Card from even the most "slammer" of doors !

Fabulous! I've ordered a big bag of the white clips (and grey?) from xpart. I can't wait to get the door cards back on properly. That'll be one less cockup from the previous owner too fix!

I hope you have included a Fir Tree for the top right or your cards will not stay on.

My Door cards are rock solid now.

And re-tension the top row of Metal clips too
Oh yes and the clip nearest to the internal lock button needs to be a
Fir tree type

Don't put FIR Tree types all the way round .......you'll never get the card off ever again !!!

How's that Capese ?
