I am not a "Rover" fan per se, but I am a devout diesel auto fan, and in my opinion the Rover 75 is far and away the best one around in it's price range. It is also extremely well equiped by way of extras, and an absolute joy to drive..

The 2.5 V6 would be my 2nd choice, but as i like driving the MPG is a consideration for me. Hence diesels rule...
....
Further to this. If you are going for a diesel one the lower power ones are slightly cheaper as there is less demand for them.

Hi Brian

I just remembered a Member's car up for sale that might suit you as it is in fantastic condition.

Check out this thread and see if you fancy it? You would need to go down south for it, however it may be well worth it and is well below your budget.

Lower power one? They only made them with a 2litre diesel I think..

As for cheaper, that was NOT my experience when searching for one, I found the diesels were a lot more expensive to buy..

Hi James,

Diesels are available in two states of tune, CDT was 116 BHP, CDTi was 131 BHP.

(X Power re-maps and Ron boxes notwithstanding)

Same engine. Different power ratings.

CDT and CDTI

Also
The XPower upgrade retunes the engine back to what it should be before BMW de-tuned it for the 75. It's only about a £200 upgrade but for some reason the ones that already have it are more expensive than those without.

I found it is impossible to prove-verify the so-called power ratings, a sticker is easy to forge, it is also easy to change the Log-book details as no one actually checks the car, and the man I spoke with who does the re-map admitted he was unable to tell if my car had already been done??? So I cancelled the job.

The only one you can be certain of is the Ronbox - synergy. But even that can be removed when the car is sold.. So (in my opinion) it would be foolish to pay extra for a hypotheticaly upgraded Diesel..

My advice would be to err on the safe side, and assume all the diesels are 116's..

I am afraid I shall disagree with you James. I asked similar questions when I first got my car, how do I know what rated engine I have?

As it was factory supplied it can be confirmed via the Chassis number and registration document. There was a thread somewhere which quoted the code for the two different ratings which is noted on the V5C and I found mine was a 131. The CDTi badge is also meant to be only for the 131, CDT being a 116.

The whole X Power re-map is confusing though.
