If you were going to add a lot more power to a 1.8 would it be worth modding the cooling system to give a larger coolant capacity at the same time?

Default Chipping the 1.8 T

I am not sure about getting more power from the 1.8 turbo, i suspect it may shorten the life of the engine/transmission and will increase insurance premiums as the car will be classed as "modified" I'd be tempted to leave it as it is..........mind the 1.8 t is not far behind the V6s performance wise.

Which month/year is the article in?

Has that mag now become MG Enthusiast do you know?

Does it say in the article that they have used aftermarket engine management,an Emerald?

I'm not sure a company would produce an engine that is at it's limit, most units are designed to a preset limit then detuned to a safe level of reliabillity

I would agree,an engine is designed to work in all parts of the world in all sorts of conditions using different quality fuel.If this can be tidied up without going to extremes i'm sure there is a little more power to be had safely.

I should have more news on this next week.

the k series started out as a much smaller unit than a 1.8....1.4 or 1.6.

Given what can be done with a NA K series....methinks there is room for manoeuvre on these engines..

....just don't blame me if it goes 'pop'...
