Hi,
I will have an answer to modding the 1.8T this next week, Mick has already offered his car as a guinea pig
nearly all cars have room for improvement due to the restrictions placed on them dependant on where they are sold.
As the 1.8T uses the MEMS ECU which controls both the fuelling and ignition it shouldn't be a prob to remap safely without stressing any components..

The K series was indeed a 1.4,1.6 and even a 1.1 but they didn't just bolt a turbo to the 1.8. Many many differences exist between the 1.8 turbo and nasp after a great deal of development was carried out by MGR

Hi Mate,
I really dont think there will be any prob at all with remapping them, Ive done quite a few non turbo 1.6 & 1.8's without any issues, and should get good results from the turbo version...

this all boils down to a remap of the ecu,all these companies claim more power, yet to see.

you could get a 12-15 bhp with a decat and a freeflow air filter...

Default Chipping the 1.8 T

The K-series was introduced in late 1989 for the Rover 214 the R8 shape, there was the 16v version from the start 1400cc then they brought out an 8v model, then in 1990 the Metro was modernised with 1.1 (1124) and 1.4 8v then the Metro Gta/Gti 1.4 16v, 1.6 k series were introduced about 1994/95 as BMW had bought Rover group, 1.8 engine came out for the MGF, but i don't think it was designed to ever be taken out to 1800 cc as far as i know.

Those are things i plan to do anyway as well as replace the full exhaust system with a custom SS free flowing one when a section of the OE one fails.

I would get it RR either side of any remap so we could see exactly what difference it has made.

Don't get me wrong, this is first and foremost a luxury car but there's no harm in optimising it's power potential.
