Afternoon. Still waiting for the new drain hose for the dishwasher, estimated delivery was two days ago. Having the dishwasher sitting like some oversized kitchen ornament is a pain. The dishwasher is more economical than using the bottled gas to heat the water. Even when the hose arrives it'll take a while to fit, need to take the side off the dishwasher to access the outlet and to do that you have to first remove the top.

Arrived about an hour after I posted the above. Machine in bits now, fairly straightforward apart from the hose guide where it comes out of the machine, that's holding the hose and I'm bugrd if I know how to get that off

That's kinda the method I employed Ended up breaking a clip, from what I read on the net that seems to be the usual result of trying to remove the hose guide. I don't know how you'd get at the clip to spring it successfully Tried a fill then drain, seems to be watertight.

Still to put all the stuff back in the cupboard under the sink. That can wait til I've had a coffee.

Because we're on bottled gas (no mains) its more economical to use a dishwasher than hot water from the tap. We have four 47kg cylinders for heating and hot water, runs off two at a time, two cylinders are currently just under £190. If you really go for it with the heating and hot water the two cylinders will last under two weeks

My folks enquired about getting gas in years ago, they'd have to pay to get a branch off the main to the cottages, at that time (around 30 years ago?) the cost would have been over 30k. 3 of the 4 cottages were up for sharing the expense but the 4th wasn't having it. Everybody was of the opinion we're not paying to have gas installed just for him to get connected at some point in the future for a fraction of the cost.

Just did a full wash, no puddles around the dishwasher If the new hose lasts as long as the old one I won't complain.
