Default Front shock "hop" on zt v6

I've ordered new front shocks for my zt - but am wondering if this will cure one of the issues its had from when I bought it:-
When being a little enthusiastic over hump backed bridges, or missing(not seeing) speed humps, the front will hop, with the shocks extending with a "clonk", like they're too short, or short of oil, so that as they extend without damping. Is this normal for a zt?
The reason for wondering is I remembered somewhere the zt shocks have limited travel, I still wouldn't expect this issue though?
Anyone else have this?

I know it’s not the same vehicle but my work van has been suffering the same issue recently. The diagnosis is both front shock absorbers are knackered.

I've just fitted two new ones, test drive tomorrow, I was expecting them to be knack'd, but they don't seem to be...
They have some really stiff rebound springs in there, which makes fitting the springs fun.

I find my zt190 to be quite good over humpbacks.

But then I'm comparing it to my 1987 quattro which has very little suspension travel and likes to grab a bit of air over the crest. Rally school style!

Less rattly, which is a plus, not checked over speed bumps yet. The bumpbump, throbb like rattle is still there at the back, but much quieter, which is just plain baffling.
Still waiting for my drop link gaiters from dmgrs, so will have to remove these again to fit...

No more hop/clonk on bumps! So some progress, think I'll get some rear shocks as well, seeing as I've started on this, would dearly love a quiet car again. I can feel a journey in the boot with er indoors driving coming on...
PS edit, the drop link gaiter were useless, nothing to hold them on, should have checked first I guess, need two new drop links now.
