yes it would need to be in neutral, but if it wasnt, and not checked. Especially with an auto, it would be easy to overlook, and with the handbrake on, the car wouldnt move, and not give a tell tale rock that would happen if it were in gear or park.

It should still turn over in park, otherwise how would you start the car in normal operation.

Turn it over on the crank pulley in neutral.
Was this car driven to the garage under it's own steam, or what? to be fair I've experienced one seized k series engine.....ever, and that was only because it had put a leg out of bed, plus engines don't simply seize without prior warning of their impending demise, even the most mechanically unsympathetic person would be deaf not to notice the signs. What are the possibilities here?, endless, and what are the remedies?, endless, what is the likelihood of a seized engine? minuscule? now what needs to be done is to have the car recovered to an competent mechanic, rather that what on the face of it seems to be a bunch of numpties. So you either take a 22mm socket and bar with you and demonstrate this yourself, with the car in neutral, and then you can have it taken away, and diagnosed properly. How about TS Autos in Stourbridge, Terry is a very competent person, or one of the nano meet crew perhaps. Brian |

Another thought has just struck me - there was a problem with the gear selection, insomuch as having to hold the button down before it would select. I wonder if the problem got worse, so that it's now permanently stuck in Drive, or something?

Yes, certainly worth looking at, to make sure the car is actually in park or neutral

Of course lol. My only thought is borne from when I put mine into park as I stopped and the car jerked. I didnt realise the wheels were still in motion (talking degrees rather than rotations lol)
