Default Steering wheel vibrating

Has done since I bought the car 35k miles ago.
It has always spoilt the driving pleasure somewhat.

Any ideas what it might be???

I've found the engine mounts are usually the culprit - there's 3:
- Lower engine mount
- Gearbox mount
- Hydramount

I also have a vibrations problem which started up last Thursday. Can feel light vibrations up until about 60mph when the vibrations get pretty bad. Steering wheels shaking like crazy. Car was perfectly smooth up until Thursday morning when the vibrating suddenly started.

Took the car in last Friday and had the front wheels rebalanced, as I thought it was one of those. They were slightly out, and both were balanced perfectly. But didn't make a difference at all to the vibrating.

Going to get the rears balanced tomorrow to see if that fixes it but just in case it don't, i'd be interested in the answers on here

Cheers guys.
Should have said before; the SW vibrates all the time, worst when the car is stationary. It sets up quite a hum within the car.
I have changed the bottom engine mount for the Mondeo mount but it made no difference.
Changed the Clutch 5k miles ago but that made no difference either.

Default Vibrations

This may be unrelated to this post, but surprised at the changes that came about!
A fellow club member (andy fryer) has always had a steering wheel vibration, and has had many checks to the car done, had new tyres, tracking etc. The vibrations at the steering wheel have now dissapeared altogether after doing a recognised mod. The cooling system on Andys car always showed only a third of the way on the dash guage, no cabin heating and a noiesy agricultural sounding diesel engine. Last weekend fitted DMGRS in line stat. Everything changed for the good! Runs beautifully smooth and no vibrations!
Worth a thought !

Apart from a non working slow speed fan my cooling system is fine. Dial always hitting 9 o'clock after 5 mins driving.

I doubt its that for me.
