One would have thought that with all the disasters which have been caused by nature or otherwise, that the authorities would be implementing a major disaster plan to help the victims. I agree that the UK needs to concentrate on home matters first. Back in 2011 when the family house was burnt down in a bush fire, we lost everything, money, clothes, possessions. Local businesses like hotels and supermarkets donated clothes and food to keep those of us affected going. There was no government fund. Friends helped with emergency housing. Insurance took ages to sort out and we had to fight them for every penny. When you are in shock, it does not feel real, it feels like a bad dream and that it will go never go away. I imagine it is the same or worse for the people in Clacton affected by the disaster. The people who had little or no insurance will need a lot of support, money and counselling. Even though I am thousands of miles away, my heart goes out to them.

Reading backwards Phil (when I nip out of office for a quick peek), we seem to have priorities all mixed up at the moment.. But I still have faith in humanity and I am sure that community spirit will kick in. Some good may even come of this by the aforementioned, bringing people closer together.. Excuse the pun Blitz spirit n all.

Watching the news and seeing further devastation in Sumerset and Devon it does seem that people are rallying together in times of hardship.
It does kind of restore your faith in humanity

Another ceiling done,why is it when you put the first brush load on,the rest of the ceiling is not as white as you thought it was.

First inspection it will need another coat when its dry.

I think you should all head this way armed with rollers and brushes,that way I will get done quicker.

Sorry Steve - I'm with Derek on this one - looks like you're on your own

I have an arrangement with SWMBO on painting - I supervise her doing it - whereas I do the wallpapering, with her acting as cutter and paster.
Can't remember the last time I did any wallpapering
