Is there anywhere other than the plenums that have a tendancy to fill with water? My MX5 makes a similar noise when the sills fill with water...

Secondly, the fuel gauge briefly malfunctioned and went from telling me that I had half a tank, to an entire tank. After switching the car off and on again it went back to normal and has been fine since - is this a sign of something on the way out?

Thirdly, even on a long run the temperature gauge doesn't go up beyond a third or so, so the needle is pointing at the little temperature symbol on the gauge if that makes sense. Looks a little on the cool side to me or is this normal?

Any pointers on the above greatly appreciated! Otherwise really enjoying the car, and it seems like one worth spending time on to get top notch.
HI R
Check the plenums again with all this wet weather they can get stuck together, thus block up very quickly unless the tube as been cut by about 15mm under the car, if you do decide to cut the plenum tubes which is highly advised make sure get the right tubes, do not cut the A/C condensation tubes by mistake.

The low temp gauge will be down to the original thermostat opening to early which is a given on these cars, the easiest solution is to add and inline stat in the top hose, this can be done at our local meets or by your self if you are handy with spanners, files, and bleeding the system after.

Once done your engine will be up to temperature as it should be, also get nice and toastie inside.

Agree with the above, check the plenum again, it only takes one stray leaf to block the drain!!
