Maybe the solenoid is OK as it sounds like machine gunning - just wind the bump stops out a bit - a quarter turn - its a common issue. Search on the site and you will see.

Is that the whole tailgate or the damn window as mine wont open and Ive tried 2 replacements and 3 different switches. I've even dismantled everything looking for chafed wires but nothing? Any ideas?

The window works fine I just get a single click when I press the tailgate button, and like you stripped everything out and cleaned it all, works for a few times then doesn’t

Take the locking mechanism off. Dismantle it and see if the springs snapped or is bending; happened to mine, new spring no more problems. Hope yours is as easy. The click is the lock disengaging via the electrics if the lock doesn't unlock this is what makes me think the spring.

Regards, Alan
