Never fill up on the m/way. Just get off at the nearest junction by the place on the m/way you were going to stop. There is always one near to m/way junctions. Save yourself a few pounds.

Used to cost me 3 shillings and fourpence ha'penny just to fill the bath with nutty slack. How times have changed.

I can remember my Father saying ''if petrol ever goes above 50p a gallon I will give up driving''. Needless to say it did go up and he did carry on driving but he was born in 1918 and when the Oil started going up at alarming rates in the early 70's it must have been a shock when it was considered a never ending supply and relatively little money.
My first gallon of fuel was under £1 in the late 70's for my FS1E and with the two stroke oil it made it just over. I wonder how long it will take before it returns to the prices we are used to paying? It would be good if it stayed lowish for a while, this could help the economy recover to some degree but I suspect as soon as things return to normal it will climb like a rocket. |
