Default itunes help

I have itunes set up with 1 phone and 3 ipods. I have seperate playlists down the left hand side of the screen and have each device to only sync with the playlist it refers to so that we all pick what we want individually to have on our own devices. I got my son a used iphone and connected it to the computer and synced it. I have now lost all the playlists on the left hand side and they are showing on his iphone instead which has filled it. Anybody know how to get it back? I can delete the play lists from the phone but in itunes I can't create a new playlist as the option is greyed out?

just realised they appear if I disconnect the device?
