Smile Simple question, I hope!

I have fitted, to my 75, a new tow bar and associated electrics via a TEB7AS bypass module and is working fine with conventional bulbs.

The question is, as we seem to be in an LED world, if I fitted off the shelf LED light units to the trailer (It desperately needs new one's) could they affect the blown light detection system (CANBUS I believe it’s called) or is there a chance it could mess it up? Not really sure if they are legal for the road but more and more vehicles appear to have them factory fitted.

More than happy with conventional bulbs although the LED scene does intrigue me a little.

I thoroughly enjoy the readings on the forum and every time I log on, which has been most days during this lockdown, I learn something new and has been extremely useful when trying to diagnose a problem with said car. Recently passed its mot, with no advisories, in part due to the excellent advice on this forum. So, a big thank you from me.

Keep safe.

I don't think the car will detect a trailer blown bulb if you use a TEB7AS.
From previous threads you need a BMW relay instead and a wire to the light switch module from????? I cannot recall, the fuse box ???? not sure which fuse

Not sure if this is any help

The TEB7AS will work OK, it recognises the feed to the relevant car rear lamp when it is switched on, and switches on the relevant trailer lamp, powered from its independent feed. It does not interfere with the car's Canbus system.
