Default A\c compressor belt

Hi all

Is it possible to change a\c compressor belt without changing alt belt or does alt belt get in the way my a\c belt is seriously cracked but alt belt fine must have been changed.

Hi Matthew.
The answer is no you would have to take off the auxiliary belt or at least slip it off the main pulley out of the way to change the A/C belt, always best to change them together so whom who ever changed the auxiliary missed a chance

Mine was the other way round auxiliary belt cracked, must have been on for ages before i purchased the car.

Well technically yes, but as Steve says you have to remove the serpentine belt to get to the aircon belt, so worth changing it whilst you are there.

Thank you for the advice i will change both what size wrench for pre tensioner bolt

24mm but it has to be a thin spanner as there isn’t much room to get in.

Worth buying a set of aviation ring key spanners - they are nice and long so you can get plenty of purchase on them. Cheap enough on Ebay.
You can see one in Steve's photos numbers 4 and 5 above.
