Audio quality
Hello,
new to the forum and new to 75 ownership I’ve recently inherited an immaculate 75 and couldn’t be happier. The one thing that bugs me is the audio quality whilst playing CDs, (as if the bass/treble settings are not right). When using the cassette player or radio the sound quality is brilliant so obviously the head unit & speakers are up to the job, I assume it’s the CD changer having issues. I’ve toyed with the idea of installing an aftermarket head unit but I’d much rather keep the interior of the car original. if anyone has had a similar experience or advice I’d appreciate it. Thanks! Hello Dan and to the club.
Which radio/cassette unit do you have in the centre console? Do you have the Harman Kardon speakers? Are you playing commercially recorded CDs or something that's been burnt on domestic equipment? Simon

Hi Simon! Thanks for the reply!
The radio/cassette unit is the Harmony which I believe is the most basic version, as for the speakers I don’t have an amp/sub in the boot so don’t think it’s the Harman Kardon. And the CD’s I’m using are genuine ones. When I first loaded up the CD changer I was a little disappointed with the audio quality compared to my other car but accepted what it was. It was only recently when I found my old cassettes that I was shocked at how much better the quality was! Weird !?! |

Yeah, the simplest solution could be the answer.

I would expect your CDs to sound good too so maybe that's worth investigating further. Simon
