Thank you for taking the trouble, much appreciated But with 3/4 tank of diesel..... I don't think a V6 would do ... Nice thought though....

Just a thought, would a bmw 320 lump fit in? Surley bmw did'nt make to many changes before fitting it in the 75? Would probally be a little quicker as i think bmw de tuned it before fitting it to the 75?

I think the BMW's were in-line whereas the 75's were transverse engines....? Maybe the engine mountings are different? BTW..... what does "i think bmw de tunned it" mean"??

Hi Andrew,
Sorry to read of your problem at the moment and I was just wondering that if your current engine was performing well, i.e. low oil consumption and reasonable to good performance, would it be worth considering fitting a new crankshaft and bearings etc., to get you back on the road. It maybe the easiest way forward. Before doing this though, it would be interesting to try and find out if the crankshaft failure you have experienced, is in fact more common than we think with this type BMW engine. Just a thought and hope you are back on the road again soon, especially after all your troubles of last year. Regards, Telfer. |
