There not to bad on fuel, around town like any car they suffer, driving around london stop start in traffic i get around 20 mpg but once on the motorway it soon shoots up to 28-30 mpg. The 4.0 is the best one to go for as the 3.2 does suffer having to pull along a 2 tonne car.

From my house on the devon border to london it costs me around £25 to get there, exactly the same as my old 2.0 V6 75.

I shared a dual carriageway with a beautiful looking J reg Jag yesterday. Without even looking at each other we just cruised side by side for about a mile before I had to turn off.

Hi Rob.. That's not bad MPG for a Jag, I assume it's manual? some of the Jag-Daimlers I had only managed single figures at times but they were all auto's..

I did a bit of trading in them in the late 70's early 80's, I was buying up North and selling to a chain of garages in the South at the time. But Maggies big crash put an end to that..

Another nice bonus to that "job" was I got to fly home with Dan Air for £25 .. heh heh.. Sadly that service also stopped years ago..

I hope your new car turns out to be a good as it looks.

Beautiful cars the last big XJs.They might cost a small fortune to run(my freinds Daimler Double Six Coupe does 12m.p.g on a good run), so he earns money with it..private hire etc.Allways fancied a MK1 XJ myself or if pennies could permit one of these
