Default Spiders

Ok we have all heard/read the news that we are in for a bumper year for spiders, in the last month we have had some big spiders running around the house, I don't mind spiders but theses are BIG and the girls really don't like them.

So does anyone have any tips on keeping them out, do theses plug in ultrasonic devices work ?

No, I'm afraid not. My house backs onto open space and every year we are over-run with spiders, which is fun because the wife is terrified of them! (I've lost count of the number of times i have been ripped from my dreams by a high pitched scream in the middle of the night!!)

so I bought a "Pest defence"

Garbage! hasn't done a thing

so now, every night before we go to bed, I walk around the outside of the house with bug spray killing all the spiders, then go into the bedroom and check everywhere for the one's that have made it in

Also my little girl isn't afraid of them (she's nearly 3) and a couple of times she has walked in from the garden with one in her hand to give to mummy,
and i NEVER laugh she hates blood though

Thought there were more than normal this year though, didn't know we were expecting record numbers!

Some ideas here http://www.stretcher.com/stories/01/010716a.cfm - not sure if any work though. See ultrasonic device under 'High Tech Answer'.

My OH is petrified of spiders too. Even a tiny money spider freaks her out!

We tried those plug in pest repellants. No use at all.

I used to vacuum them up, until she started having nightmares about them coming out of the vacuum cleaner. It was kinda funny watching them spinning round inside it though!

So, every night i'm not working I have a quick wander round the house with a rolled up newspaper, and any I find & bash end up in the tank as frog food. We have some very fat frogs.

Don't know much about ultrasonics, but a tighter written software could help. The amount of spiders trawling the web site needs a bit more than RAID!!

A small bowl of conkers in each room. I have no idea how it works but it does.

Just googled it and it seems its something to do with the oil in the conker. While I was googling I also found if you introduce one cellar spider into the house the house will be free of spiders in days..............apart from one of course

Our garden is over run.

Yesturday i had the honor of dismantling the kids 14' trampelene, there are 120 springs on the thing (now i have muscles like van dam) over half had a ruddy great spider inside the coil..

Next year it stays in the shed.
