Did my aircon licence yesterday.
I passed.
Anyone else doing it? Basically, they just test your competance with recovering refrigerant from a bottle and a car and give you a questionaire to fill in. After July next year its compulsary.

I was supposed to do it last month but was cancelled as we were too busy! Haven't been rebooked yet. Are you then the only authorised person, or do you then go back to your dealership and make sure everybody does it correctly?

Everyone has to do it eventually. Before July next year. Otherwise, I'll be the only one allowed to do it.

I will have to book in my jag for a re gas now!
Anyway well done phil, if you got a good 2nd hand machine you could make a nice little earner doing regases for £40. I used to do air con re gases at the old jag place i worked at, we had this old machine made by sun, used to give you a nasty electric shock if you touched it in the wrong place! By the way how much does your place charge for a re gas? My jag needs doing but down here they all want an and a leg for it!

I'm not 100% sure, it should be R12 but it's been topped up before by kwick fit of all people so i suspect its got R134a in the system. It seems to of held it pretty well as it was topped up 4 years ago by the previous owner.
Is there a substitute gas for R12?

Not that I'm aware of and you aren't supposed to mix the gasses although there must be something you can do.
