I buy stuff on there quite often.

Just be aware that since Brexit, they now add 20% VAT on top of the advertised price.

A lot of the stuff is what you find on ebay, only cheaper.

The only time I had a problem was about 2 years ago. You couldn't get nitrile gloves anywhere, due to covid. I bought two boxes on Ali Express, but never received them. I did eventually get a refund, but it was touch & go for a while!

Something else that’s just occurred to me is that if you have a credit card that doesn’t charge for foreign transactions, it’s often cheaper to pay in US dollars. You can change the currency in the top right hand corner of the screen and check it against the current exchange rate.

They're a retailer selling mainly Chinese goods direct from China - so you're at the mercy of Customs for charges, and if there's an issue with your purchase you'll likely have to sort it yourself.

It's great for smaller bits and pieces, but I'd buy something like a stereo from a UK seller so you can return it if there's an issue.

Good point about the customs charges. I’ve only been buying low value items, so it hasn’t been an issue.

I've bought some low value items mainly, and always pay by PayPal in US dollars as it's generally cheaper to do it that way.

My Wife jokes that I keep the chinese econpmy going single handed, I buy a few items from Aliexpress and there is usually something on route.

Tools are usally cheap rubbish but most of the electronic stuff is fine, my current Sony mobile came via Ali Express, it was 40% cheaper than Ebay and it was here in under a week. My best bargain was a throttle body for my V8 ZT, £28 delivered and it was here in under 2 weeks.

You do need to compare as has been said with Ebay as some stuff is cheaper from Ebay now VAT needs to be added.

Recently I have noticed that postage costs have got a lot higher, it used to be a couple of quid but can now be as much as the item you are buying.

I had an issue with a set of HID lights that were deliveres as LHD and I had orderd RHD, the refund was in my account in a couple of days.

A mate puchased a laptop from them, it was perfect and he is still using it 3 years after puchases. The best bit was it was less £150 than the equivalent would have cost if purchase here.

If you are not sure look where your Laptop or mobile were made.
