Default 75 Vs XJ6

A bloke at work has just bought a 1996 Jaguar XJ6 3.2, been a car fanatic I had to have a look and sit in it.
Was amazed, I know it's older than my 2001 tourer but give me the mighty 75 anyday. Feels much more plush and the dash is gorgeous when compared with the Jag.
If I see a 2001 XJ will have a nose and see if they changed it at all, but was dissapointed in the big Jag

In 1979 I bought a 1968 series1 2.8 XJ6. After my first car, a Mini, then several Fords, it was my first "luxury" car....... I LOVED it! Manual box with the Normanville de Laycock overdrive (just about the only bit I never took apart! ) The old straight six was a bit thirsty though - I fitted Luminition and got an extra 3mpg! But petrol was cheap in those days! I've spent time working "on the road" and also as a car sales exec...... both occupations induce that ethos that a car is just a lump of metal. my 75 is the first car since that old Jag that makes me feel good when I'm driving it. This is something the old British car industry did so well..... Black armbands all round???
(BTW Hattman, the dash on that old'un of mine was like a walnut flight deck... round dials, chrome rings.... really gorgeous!)

The jags are so nice, but the later stuff, will get crushed due to the £400 per year road tax fees.

SO IN THE YEARS TO COME WE WILL NOT SEE MANY FOR SALE.

I still perfer the 75 and it must have a wooden dash, leather and some toys
People with money will pay the £400, if they can afford to pay out for the car in the first place, they will pay out £400

Was glad that mine was not £400 a year tax as the goverment changed it to March 2006 onwards

I'd love an XJR6 for a bit. (till I ran out of petrol money)
