Just stick up a fake camera and some signage .... In my experience that makes them clear off.
Otherwise ..... stand and watch ... call the police and give an account of what they are doing describing them as best you can over the phone, preferably out of sight. This will be considered a first description. Police must attend as a soon as they can when an offence is taking place, for example damage, or them committing offences under the public order act, such as causing you harassment alarm or distress. As mentioned though, for anything to be done, you'll need to take the stand. Other alternatives are your local authority who may go about taking statements from neighbours with a view to obtaining a "stand alone" ASBO or contact some youth outreach workers to engage them. (Bit left wing, but again, in my experience, does work sometimes). Good luck though ... never an easy way to deal with youths like this.

Many thanks for your replies.
The first we know about it is when the stones hit the windows, they then immediately run/cycle off. It isn't helped by the fact our house is slightly elevated from road level so you can't see them coming unless you are constantly looking out of the windows. I must have reported this countless times but by the time the Police respond these yobs have long gone. Nieghbours round here won't get involved and some of them are probably related to some of these scroats. Police finally visited this afternoon and luckily part of the group (who were about to throw some stones that I'd watched them pick up further down the road) were able to be positively identified by the officers. They were going to get a visit after they had finished speaking to me and up to press nothing has happened tonight. We will see what happens next. Russ
