G'day Andy, Andy, Jeff, Ian and Bob - very kind of those down in darkest Norfolk to send me some sunshine up here for a change
I'm about to do a socially distanced (to the tune of 4.5 miles!) stock count of alcohol at my Club - me at home on the phone, others in the cellar at the Club relaying the count to me, so that I can enter figures into the computer.
I have to be totally honest - although in theory there's nothing to stop me attending the Club now, I am still 'twitchy' about the risks. I think I'll give it a few weeks and see how things go

Afternoon all, Boy is it muggy, No sunshine but cloudy & very warm 25C here.

Oh dear! One of my elderly neighbours came across earlier asking if I knew owt about PC's!
He's having the same trouble I had with all my desktops with Windows 10 updates.
His updates are getting to 60% then failing same as mine did, He's been trying since this morning with no luck. It failed again on the second attempt then it undid the changes again now his audio doesn't work, same as mine

I told him I was so sick & tired of win 10 I binned mine & installed Linux, He's not sure if he wants to do that but I said if you want to get a cheap SSD I'll install Linux or Ubuntu on that for you if you want and you can still keep the hard drive with Win 10 on it for someone else to sort out.

I've tried twice to install the latest Windows 10 2004 Feature update. The first attempt, after 14 hours, resulted in a totally frozen PC - so went back to previous version.
Second attempt installed itself, but made all sorts of unwanted changes to other software, and slowed the machine down to snails pace. Again, I reverted to the previous version - no problems.
This latest versions of Windows 10 doesn't install itself - it waits for you to consciously hit the "download and install button" - best recommendation is ..... DON'T hit said button

Evening all, Very sticky temps, It's 'orrible, I foresee my Cider supplies taking another hit tonight

Chicken n rice/peas with salad for tea tonight I pulled some spuds from one of the buckets this afternoon to see how they're getting on, Not bad at all.

The same people across the back are having another house party with around 15 people there with not a mask in sight again

It's become a huge headache for a lot of people, One option is to reset the OS back to factory but you lose all your stuff.

He was given the PC by his brother (now passed) & he doesn't have the activation keys/proof of purchase etc to re-install all the software it came with if he did a factory reset.

I told him sorry I cant help you, I don't need the headache with that pile of horse poop OS, It gave me nowt but grief on three machines.

Cool

Very strange day, weather wise. We started with a thick mist, then blue sky and then it clouded over. Temperature hovering around the 25 mark and it was tipping it down, huge raindrops. Managed to get the washing in.

And now we have wall to wall blue sky and the temperature is still around the 25 mark.
Not feeling all that hungry so just had a cold sausage sandwich for my tea.

Now having a cool Henry Weston to round the evening off.
