A news item I just saw is that there was a special Christmas service held and broadcast from the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. The choir made a special rendition of "Jingle Bells", to cheer the world up - they sang it in English. That will please all those people held up in Kent, unable to get to their homes to be with their families for Christmas, oh, who shut the border?

I saw a bit of it on the news and it raised my spirit a bit. Given this time of christian unity, the recent fire damage to the cathedral and the ongoing cowardly attacks by the so-called extremists on France and the rest of the world I thought that it sent out the right message.

Trouble now is that any discovery of the new strain is linking back to the UK.

The price of peace is eternal vigilance but to some expenses fiddlers that is a cliche to be sacrificed on the altar of their perception/agenda of financial expediency. France was not alone in WW2, the world at large was not prepared for the firestorm which its lethargy begot.
