I tried a wee plate, with a rivnut it behind it, as I can’t access a welder at the moment.
It pulled out, the plate bent. I will weld a thicker plate in, post Covid. Looking at the angles on the good side, they are all wrong. So I might have a think about a redesign.

Quick question when I try and put my hand up the pillar (OSR/Drivers side) after removing the access panel there seems to be something plastic/rubbery up there, preventing access.
Any idea what it is?

With boy #'s FIAT poorly and Mrs Citroen, the car has been pressed into service to get Mrs to work.
I went to Screwfix and got some of the plates, drilled and rivetted. Fingers crossed they hold until I can get access to the welder, which is at work and still locked down.
