Cigarette Lighter Doesnt Charge?
Hi guys,
So my Rover 75 from 2003 2.5L V6 has a cigarette lighter which works it gets hot i tested it (nearly burned my finger lol). But when i plug in my Sat NAV or a small usb port charger it just doesnt deliver any power to it. I tried turning the car on but still nothing. What is the problem here? Is it because the plugs are different here are the 2 plugs i mean: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....1PGZBYNVTL.jpg https://www.dhresource.com/0x0s/f2-a...te-lighter.jpg The 2nd one is the one which works and gets hot when pressed in, the first one i tried 2 different ones does not deliver any power. Am i doing something wrong or what is the problem here? Thank you guys for the answers. |

Sounds like a plug problem. I bought a cheap USB adapter from my local pound shop and it worked ok.

The problem is they are designed to be a cigarette lighter not an accessory socket
Because of the spring in the bottom that clips on the lighter element, depending on the shape of the adapter the centre contact doesn't reach If you try and bend the springs to get them out of the way they can short onto the outer body Best solution is to fit a proper accessory socket or usb socket in the cubby box, saves breaking your cigarette lighter flap which are absolutely horrible to repair Russ

II recently bought one of those double USB plug ins for the cigarette lighter socket. Fits well and works perfectly.
You can buy them just about anywhere.-- |
