Default Dolls house furniture, how do you size it ??.

I have acquired a large dolls house that I am restoring. I need to buy some furniture for it for some of the rooms, but am confused as to how do I know what size of furniture to buy ?. Is all furniture scaled down to a standard size or do you need to buy specific sizes depending on the sixe of the house, if so how do I work out what size to buy. The house is about 4 feet high and about 2 feet wide..

1:12/1:16 1:24 1:50 are some of the common sizes. Measure a door frame, or ceiling height (not accurate) and compare it to full size examples.
Divide one into the other to get the ratio.

The most common scale for doll house fittings and furnishings is 1:12, basically one inch in the doll house is the equivalent of one foot in real life.
