Guess what.
This morning unlocked the car tried to start but nothing. All I got was a clicking from the starter and me headlights flashing. Got me spare battery and used it with jump leads. Started no problem. What do members think?

I've got a few suggestions, but without a bit of feedback I'm in the dark so there's no point me posting them up. |

Have you checked the output from the alternator yet? If you haven’t I suggest you take the battery off the car every night, and replace in the morning for a week. This will tell you if (a) the battery is any good because it should not lose its charge overnight with nothing taking any charge out of it. (b) The battery will not start the car because the battery is duff. Check the voltage each night, and again each morning. If it has gone down by much without it being on the car. Dump it and get a replacement. A cell has gone awol more likely than not.

If you have a factory fit Satnav then water getting into the spare tyre well in the boot can cause that to not shut down and drain the battery, and if you haven't got one then you need to pull each fuse in turn and check the current drain with a meter.
On one of our cars it was the cd autochanger in the boot causing the problem, but I haven't heard of anyone else suffering that. |
