That crossed my mind as because of the air bag height!
May be worth talking to your local friendly MOT Station before you do it, to save an MOT fail and having to remove what ever mod you do! LHD seat base off either eBay France, Germany, Spain or Italy is the best option! |

If you only go as high as the driver's seat at it's highest setting then you should have no problems come MOT time.
Regarding air bags the steering wheel has a range of adjustment and its bag goes up and down with it so don't think it's an exact science. Mike |

I am still struggling to find suitable bolts. The ones fitted have a very low profile "cap" head which is needed to clear the seat runner as it slides over the top.
Ordinary bolt heads- including the normal cap head ones are too high, and after a fleabay search, the only place I have been able to find that do m10 1.5 pitch 50mm long cap head bolts is in the states. Don't even ask the price !! I suppose I could use ordinary bolts and grind the heads down - but I think that would affect the strength. Anyone know a UK supplier for these low profile cap bolts ? John

Logically ( this don't alway apply in MOT stations ) the seat height has no real relationship to an Airbag ? . As the passenger could be anything from 4ft to 7 ft tall and so seat postion up/down means nothing !

Thanks Simon
It looks like Westfield fasteners can help - they do an SS low head cap screw that looks ideal, I just need to check with them they have a 1.5 pitch version. I have had a quick chat with a local MOT tester, and he tells me that provided the seat height is approximately the same as the drivers (in the raised position) and the seat was securely fixed, he would not have any issue with what I propose at MOT time. I have just ordered 4 90mm lengths of 30x30mm mild steel square section that I will use as spacers to give a 30 mm total lift. Hopefully they will give an even more secure base than just using washers. I will let you all know how I get on.

Please do; if you're successful I might do the same.

I'm a newbie and am interested in the passenger seat height adjustment method suggested. My wife is short and arthritis means she has great difficulty in exiting the car from the passenger seat - especially by a pavement. Its increase height or SELL!!! I'd ideally like to raise the seat by the max. possible and my MOT guy says he will fit longer bolts and spacers if I source them and it will meet MOT requirements. Advice on the best source, length and exact specs pitch etc and the best spacers to use would be appreciated as I'm no mechanic.
